The Swift Dual Input Serial board offers the ability to simultaneously monitor two serial NTDS cables on a single PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) module. A typical usage would be to monitor the input and output of a single NTDS channel but it can monitor any combination of input or output cables. Rather than requiring two bi-directional NTDS boards using only their input, the Dual Input Swift provides fast and reliable data collection on a single board, which makes efficient use of space and hardware resources. The Dual Input Swift supports MIL-STD-1397C Type D or E interfaces. Its versatile design allows it to be configured by software for active communications as the receiving end of a conventional NTDS interface, or to passively listen to transfers between an NTDS serial transmitter (Source) and receiver (Sink).

 

An on-board time stamp generator tags individual data words and control frames with 125 ns resolution. Time stamping is software-selectable and can be used with active or passive communication modes. For maintenance and reliability, the Dual Input Swift has the ability to perform self-tests using the on-board output circuit. The test output can be routed to the board's external connectors or through its internal loop-back path, which allows the board to be tested without disconnecting cables.

 

The PMC form factor of the Dual Input Swift brings its capabilities to any system architecture with PMC slots or adapters including PCI, Compact PCI, and VME (with appropriate software device driver*). For space savings, versatility, and performance, the Swift Dual Input board is the best choice for data collection on serial NTDS channels.
