Pelican™ (PMC Carrier) Family
The Pelican™ family of PMC carriers adapt PCI Mezzanine Cards (PMCs) to a variety of bus architectures including Compact PCI (cPCI), VME, VME64, VME64x, PCI, and PCI Express (PCIe). PMCs combine the electrical characteristics of the PCI bus with the mechanical dimensions of the Common Mezzanine Card (CMC) format, resulting in a small daughter card that can be mounted in industry standard PMC sites to add system features, increase computing power, or increase I/O channel density.
The Pelican PCI/PMC Carrier card is a standard half length PCI card that supports a single PMC module. The carrier provides the flexibility of using a PMC module in a conventional PCI slot. It requires no setup, and supports both 3.3V and 5V PCI signaling.
The Pelican PCIe/PMC Carrier card is a standard half length PCI Express card that supports a single PMC module. It can be installed in 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x slots.
The Pelican cPCI 6U CompactPCI Carrier card carries up to 2 PMC modules. It supports front and rear I/O connections and is hot swappable. It can also be configured with two onboard gigabit Ethernet controllers.
The Pelican VME/PMC Carrier is a 6U VME card that supports up to 2 PMC modules. It comes also in VME, VME64, and Conduction Cooled versions. Its industry standard Tundra Universe II VME/PCI bridge chip assures compliance with VME and PCI standards. The card comes with an easy-to-read front panel configuration display; front panel reset switch, and two PMC slots.
